On march 24, 1919 Larwrence ferlingetti was born into an Italian Portuguese family which imigrated to the U.S. after he was born. He was very interested in poems and the literature at a very young age. He went to university and he graduated with a doctorate degree. After he was forced to join the military and fight in world war 2. Lucky he didn't have to go out into the retched battle field. but he sure had his shares of stories of what happened. When he got back he started writing a magazine (City Lights) with his friend on a second floor rent out room. They would take poems from poets with little popularity and put them in a book to get recognized, which soon gave them a nice profit. After a while they opened a book store which was called City Lights Bookstore where they continued to write the magazine and started the "Pockets Poets Series". besides the poetry Lawrence also like to paint and was a part time french teacher. Which resulted in some great accomplishment that we will remember forever.
